I. BASICS OF ARRIVAL
- Try to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to tee time
- Late arrival may force staff to assign a different tee time
- Drop off bag at appropriate location
- Check in with golf shop
- Follow proper dress code
- Silence cell phones or leave them behind

II. GEARING UP
- Secure clubs on golf car
- Check to make sure you have what you need:
balls, tees,
repair tool, sunscreen, water, etc.
- Make sure divot-mix bottles are full
so you can repair divots
- Identify your balls for the round
- Check you have no more than 14 clubs
- Review car operation
- Agree with your group to play ready golf
- If allowed, alcohol only in moderation
- Dispose of tobacco products properly

III. WARM UP AND THE PRACTICE
- Stretch take time to warm up
- Before your round visit the driving range,
putting green and chipping green (if one is available)
- Don’t overdo it, a brief warm-up, save it for the course
- Be courteous of others
- On putting green don’t walk in others line,
move from cup
so that others can use, keep voices
low and be aware of where
others are using facility

IV. READY GOLF
- Follow and understand the rules of Ready Golf
- Be prepared to hit your shot when it is your turn
- Ready golf helps maintain pace of play
- Use the club’s pace of play card
- Try to keep 18 holes under 4 hours
- If need be, speed up, skip a hole or
let others play through

V. TEAM BASICS
- Agree to Play Ready Golf
- Collect your group 15 min before tee time
- Check in with the starter to be informed of
status of course
- Give foursomes priority- smaller groups may
be paired to make a foursome
- Select partners and decide handicaps

VI. TEE AREA: THE BASICS
- Approach the tee after the previous group is clear
- Park golf car on path not on turf
- Walkers place bags outside tee area
- Select a tee that matches your skill index -
the designers take this
into account when they
design the course and placement of tees.
- Wait until the drive zone is clear ahead
- Remain quiet and out of players
eye line when they are hitting
- Be prepared when it is your turn to hit.
Visualize your shot while you wait your turn
- Watch where balls land, for yourself and others.

VII. COURSE CARE: TEE AREA
- Clean up trash: tees, cigarette butts, liter etc.,
tees damage mowers
- Fill in your divot and those of others when time
allows, helps keep tee area level
- Use separate sand/seed mixture if available for tee area
- Overfill divots, mowers will level the divots

VIII. FAIRWAY: "READY GOLF"
- Know the rules of “Ready Golf”, to keep up Pace of Play
- Learn to move efficiently down the fairway,

- Pay attention and be ready to hit when your turn
comes, hit within 30 seconds
of your turn,
so playing companions aren’t waiting on you
- Carry enough clubs to hit your next shot, remember
to try and walk to your
next shot rather than having
to return to your car

- Keep the pace with simple tips, like where to park the car

X. COURSE CARE: THE FAIRWAY
- Fill your divots (overfill), check bottles at the turn
- Fill other divots, walkers don’t carry fill, do what you can
- Understand where to drive the golf car -
Avoid damage to the course
- Follow the ninety degree rule with your car or
car path only rules.
- Leave passing room on path for other cars
- Be respectful of work crews, look for roped areas or other
areas on the course under repair
- Have pride and respect for the your course

XI. GREEN AREA: PACE OF PLAY
- Plan your shot as you approach, notice such things as
the slope of the area, drainage patterns, help
prepare for your next shot
- Take enough clubs to finish the hole, when dropped
off short of the hole
- Park near the next tee
- Finish putting whenever possible, avoid marking ball
when possible. Be aware of other’s ball line
- Check for everyone that all clubs are picked up
- Prepare for your shot when waiting for others

XII. READY GOLF ON THE GREEN
- Farthest from the hole plays first, be prepared
- Mark and pick up your ball if it is in the putt line of other’s
- Plan your shot while waiting
- Closest to hole should tend the pin or remove
- When tending be prepared to lift flag from cup when
ball approaches.
Hold flag so it doesn’t flap in wind and
keep your shadow out
of line of play. Stay Still
- Do not walk on another’s putt line
- Fix as many ball marks as possible and do it properly
- Remain quiet
- Move directly to next tee when finished
- If you are behind don’t worry about order of play

XIII. COURSE CARE: THE GREEN AREA
- Never drive closer than 60 feet from a green
- Never drive or park on the green apron or near bunkers
- Enter and exit the bunker from the low side, hard to
exit from high side without damage
- Try not to drag feet so as to diminish spike marks
- Take clubs and rake into the bunker
- Do not test sand with club or hands, it is a penalty
- Retrace your steps out of the bunker raking as you go
- Repair ball marks on the green with ball mark repair
tool, fix others if time allows
- Damp down spike marks when you are finished, not before
you are finished or it is a penalty

XIV. FINISHING UP
- Don’t linger at the last green, move on to the
club and allow
the next group play on
- Know the dress code for the grill area
- Know the hours of operation
- Stay in appropriate après golf areas
- Know the designated smoking areas
- Return car to the proper area
- Check to make sure you have all of your clubs and
that everything is out of the car.
